Solar Array Resources for New Solar Bike Teams

The resources listed below are provided to help new teams with designing and building solar arrays. There are many different options and no one "right" way to build a solar bike -- but if you are planning to compete in Solar BikeRayce event, please also remember that it is important to be familiar with the Regulations (SBR Regulations).

  • Veteran Teams - Ask questions, visit a team's shop, visit a competition. Teams can be contacted through the solar bike list serve, by online team profiles, and by team websites.

  • Solar Bike Alumni - There may be solar bike alumni near your school that can help with technical questions. To search for former raycers, visit the Society of Alternative Energy Racing or the solar bike list serve.

  • Books
  • Manufacturers/Dealers - Companies that make solar cells, sell solar cells, or provide array construction services often have technical information on their websites. Some companies will provide teams with sample or broken cells to practice with. The links below do not constitute an endorsement of the companies by Formula Sun.

Please send suggestions of other useful resources or updates on broken links to info@solarbike.org.
